What is bonus wagering?

Wagering, or the playthrough requirement, is how many times you must bet the bonus before you can withdraw winnings. With a €100 bonus and 35x wagering, you must bet €3,500 in total. Some offers apply wagering to deposit plus bonus, which doubles the amount to bet.

How the calculator estimates a bonus's value

Every bet returns its RTP on average, for example 96%: so you lose 4% of every euro bet on average. The calculator multiplies the total to bet by this average loss and compares it with the bonus. If the average loss is bigger than the bonus, the offer has negative value in the long run.

A concrete example

€100 deposit, 100% bonus, 35x wagering on the bonus and a 96% slot: you must bet €3,500, for an average loss of €140. The €100 bonus is therefore worth about −€40 on average. At 20x, the average loss falls to €80 and the bonus is worth +€20.

How to pick a good casino bonus

Look at the wagering first, then the maximum bet allowed, the deadline and excluded games. A small no-wagering bonus is often worth more than a big one at 40x.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as good wagering?

Below 25x is fairly favourable. Above 40x, the bonus becomes hard to clear.

Is the result guaranteed?

No, it's a theoretical average: in a real session you can win or lose much more.

Do all games count towards wagering?

No. Slots often count 100%, table games far less or not at all.
